January 2013 ....

Jason Toyne, pictured left in a snow-covered Eastfield Park, is one of Northampton Borough Council's newly appointed Park Rangers.

He will share his duties between Eastfield Park, Bradlaugh Fields and Hunsbury Hill Park so we expect he will be kept very busy. He's going to be a great asset to those of us who want the very best for our parks.

Welcome Jason!

Winning Poster

The winning entry in the FoEP's 'Away With Litter' poster competition for children from local primary schools was produced by Megan New from Cedar Road Primary School. Megan will receive a £50 voucher as her prize.

Other prize winners include Estelle Black from Boothville Primary, Ava Joyce from Headlands Primary and Hariem Gordon from Arbours Primary. Each will receive a £20 voucher for the best poster from their school. Monique, Guila, Sean and Janika from Eastfield Primary with share a £20 voucher for their joint poster.

A number of other children will be awarded consolation prizes and these will be notified through their schools. At this stage it is not possible to publish the name of the winner from Northampton College because the College entries were submitted anonymously. Cedar Road Primary will receive the prize for the best set of entries.

Eastfield Park Website

Work continues on our sister website (www.eastfieldpark.eastfieldward.co.uk). This contains information about the park itself - its location, physical character, history, wildlife, etc. A new page about Moses Philip Manfield has recently been added.

John Laurence Neal

John Neal, pictured above at our Autumn Tidy-up in 2009, was sadly taken from us on the 27th December, 2012, at the age of 63. John was a founder member of the FoEP and a great help and inspiration to all of us. It was indeed an enormous pleasure and a great privilege to have known him and worked with him. He was, in every sense, a 'big man'.
