New path for Eastfield Park

AGM & PUBLIC TALK

The FoEP AGM was held at Broadmead Baptist Church on Monday 17th February. It was pre-ceded by a public talk ('Friends of Eastfield Park: Seven Years On') given by FoEP Chair, Vic Smith.

During the talk Vic reviewed some of the achievements and disappointments of the FoEP during its first seven years of existance. The inaugural meeting of the FoEP actually took place in November 2007 making the organisation just over six years old, but Vic explained that the origins of the group went back at least a year earlier to a meeting of the (now defunct) Eastfield & Headlands Operations Team.

At that meeting an 'intensive discussion' took place regarding Eastfield Park. According to the minutes of the meeting: “Linda Martin explained to the group that the state of the park has been talked about often, and that Neighbourhood Manage-ment brings an opportunity to focus on developing a Master Plan for its future. As a starting point, and as a way of involving more residents, she proposes a Clean-up in the spring.”

Vic developed his thought mainly around the theme of what had become of these two ideas: the Master Plan and the spring Clean-up, although he also briefly mentioned some of the other activities of the FoEP.

An edited version of Vic's talk can be downloaded as a pdf file by clicking here:

All members of the current committee were re-elected at the AGM.
