Equipment purchased using the Community Development Foundation grant mentioned in the July News has now arrived.

The photograph (right) shows Bernard, our Vice-Chair, and John, our Treasurer, wearing new high visibility vests and holding two of our new new Bago litter pliers. Bernard is placing litter in a litter sack held open with a Bago sack holder while John is wearing a hands-free sack carrier. The banner photo (above) shows the printing on the rear of the vests.

Two A1 pavement boards with posters (as shown in the photo) were also purchased using the grant.

Altogether thirty pairs of litter pliers in two designs and four sizes were purchased along with ten sack holders and six hands-free sack carriers. We also brought extensions for three of the litter pliers and a telescopic pole with net for removing litter from the ponds and lake.

We are impressed with the sturdy construction of the Bago litter pliers and expect them to last much longer than those we have previously used (the kind supplied by Enterprise for clean-ups).

Examples of the new equipment will be on display at the Eastfield Fete on Saturday 8th September (see adjacent poster) when we launch our Autumn anti-litter campaign: Away With Litter!

Information about the campaign will be given out at the Fete and subsequently published on this website and on Facebook.
