April 2013 ....

The flowers that bloom in the Spring ....

This year's 'Spring Clean' in Eastfield Park was a 'low key' event lasting only two hours on Saturday, 13th April, between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. Nine of us met at the bottom pond and spent the time weeding part of the 'Crescent Rock Garden', pruning epicormic growth on the lime trees in the Bullring and picking up litter. Although few in number, we managed to achieve quite a lot in a short space of time.

During our work it was pleasing to note the results of some of our earlier efforts in the Park (including those of other volunteers). Daffodils, primroses and cyclamen were in bloom on the Crescent Rock Garden and daffodils and crocuses planted last autumn by volunteers from the WNDC were making a good show at the Greenfield Avenue and Skiddaw Walk entrances to the Park.
